Dysport®

Repeated contractions of facial muscles can cause deep folds and wrinkles to form between the eyebrows, around the eyes, and in the forehead.  As we age, these dynamic wrinkles become more prominent, making us appear older and more stressed.  Dysport® is a new treatment for wrinkles that works by temporarily relaxing the facial muscles that cause wrinkling, much like BOTOX® Cosmetic.  Dysport was approved by the FDA for cosmetic use in the United States in April 2009, but it has been used for many years in Europe with an excellent safety profile.  Many patients feel that Dysport® may begin to work sooner than BOTOX® Cosmetic, but additional studies may be needed before the evidence is considered conclusive.  Dr. McCracken has been offering Dysport® injections since the treatment was approved by the FDA.

• Soften wrinkles and creases in the forehead

• Improve the appearance of thick bands in the neck

Dysport® injections take about ten minutes, and there is only minimal discomfort. Patients can resume normal activities immediately, with visible improvements that can be noticed within days, and results typically lasting up to four months.  Cosmetic fillers may be used along with Dysport® injections to maximize facial rejuvenation.
